What is the EU EN71 certification process for wooden toys?

Date:2024-03-21 09:57:55 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Wooden toys exported to the EU need to undergo EN71 testing. EN71 is a regulatory standard for toy products in the EU market, aiming to ensure the safety and quality of toys. This standard applies to all toys for children under 14 years old, including but not limited to plastic toys, fabric toys, wooden toys, etc.

EU EN71 certification process for wooden toys:

1. Preliminary evaluation: Manufacturers need to conduct a preliminary evaluation of wooden toys to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the EN71 standard. This includes a review of toy materials, structural design, workmanship, etc.

2. Pre-examination: Pre-examination is an important link in the application process. The authoritative agency conducts a preliminary review of the samples and materials submitted by the manufacturer. After passing the pre-review, the manufacturer can enter the formal certification process.

3. Formal review: The formal review includes two parts: document review and on-site review. The document audit mainly reviews the technical documents submitted by the manufacturer to ensure that they meet the requirements of the EN71 standard; the on-site audit is an on-site inspection of the production site, process flow, etc. to ensure the safety of the actual production process of the product.

4. Certification decision: Based on the results of the pre-review and formal review, the authoritative agency will make a certification decision. If the wooden toys meet the requirements of the EN71 standard, a CE-EN71 certification is issued.

Materials required for EN71 certification of wooden toys:

1. Product samples: Usually at least 2 to 3 wooden toy samples need to be provided for testing.

2. BOM list: BOM (Bill of Materials) list lists all the components of wooden toys in detail, including wood types, paints, glues, etc., and needs to be listed by material and color.

3. Product instruction manual or user manual: Detailed description of the functions, usage and precautions of wooden toys.

4. Testing application form: Complete the testing application form, including basic information about wooden toys, manufacturer information, etc.

5. Relevant supporting documents: such as the raw material source certificate of wooden toys, production process flow chart, etc.

6. Company qualification documents: including manufacturer or exporter’s business license, tax registration certificate, etc.
