Children's slippers require EU EN71 testing, which is an important testing standard for toy safety in the EU market. Although children's slippers are primarily used for wearing, they may also be considered products that come into close contact with children.
1. Determine the applicable EN71 part
EN71-1: Physical and mechanical performance tests, such as drop test, small parts test, sharp edge test, etc., to ensure that slippers will not cause physical harm to children.
EN71-2: Flammability test to evaluate the burning performance of slippers to prevent fire risks.
EN71-3: Migration test of specific elements, detecting the content of migrating harmful elements (such as lead, cadmium, etc.) in slippers to ensure that they will not cause harm to children's health.
2. Select certification agency
The EU does not mandate that EN71 certification must be carried out through a specific certification agency, but manufacturers can choose to find a recognized certification agency on the EU's official website to cooperate. Choosing an experienced and qualified certification body can ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
3. Submit application and samples
Submit a detailed application to the selected certification body, including detailed technical specifications of children's slippers, description of the manufacturing process and other information. At the same time, a sufficient number of children's slippers samples will be provided for testing in accordance with the requirements of the testing agency.
4. Testing and Evaluation
The certification body will conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of the submitted samples, including testing of physical and mechanical properties, flammability, chemical content, etc. If the sample does not meet the EN71 standard in any aspect, the manufacturer needs to make the necessary modifications and resubmit the sample.
5. Issuance of certificates
If the children's slippers sample passes all tests and evaluations, the certification body will issue an EN71 certification to the manufacturer. This certificate indicates that the manufacturer's children's slippers comply with EU toy safety standards and can be sold on the EU market.
