Building block educational toys sold in Canada need to comply with the federal safety standards stipulated in the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), especially SOR/2011-17 "Canadian Toy Regulations". The following are relevant guidelines for the testing requirements of building block educational toys in Canada SOR/2011-17:

1. Physical and mechanical properties

- Magnetic strength: If the building blocks contain magnetic parts, their magnetic strength should comply with the requirements of the SOR/2011-17 standard to ensure that children will not accidentally swallow or inhale small magnetic parts during use, causing intestinal blockage and other hazards.

- Small parts test: The small parts in the building blocks should comply with the small parts test requirements in the Canadian Toy Safety Standard, that is, they cannot pass through the specified small parts cylinder.

2. Chemical safety

- Surface coating material: The total lead content of the surface coating material of the building blocks shall not exceed 90 mg/kg, and the total mercury content shall not exceed 10 mg/kg.

- Phthalates: Polyvinyl chloride in building blocks must not contain di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or phthalate at a concentration exceeding 1000 mg/kg. Butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP); if any of the building blocks If a part can be put into the mouth of a child under 4 years old, the polyvinyl chloride in this part shall not contain diisononyl phthalate (DINP), dihexyl phthalate (DIDP) or divinyl phthalate in a concentration exceeding 1000 mg/kg. Di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP).

3. Labeling and warning requirements

- Warning labels: Building blocks should have clear warning labels on the product or packaging to remind consumers to pay attention to safe use and to prevent children from accidentally swallowing or inhaling small magnetic parts.

- Age recommendation: Building blocks should be recommended according to the age of children to avoid being used by children of inappropriate ages and causing safety hazards.

4. Testing and Compliance

- Choose an appropriate testing agency: Choose a testing agency with SOR/2011-17 toy testing qualifications to conduct testing to ensure product safety and compliance.

- Submit a test report: When exporting building block educational toys to Canada, you need to submit a test report and certificate to the importer or relevant government agency to prove that the product meets relevant safety standards.
