EU ROHS testing process for all plastics

Date:2025-03-10 10:09:20 Classification :【question】 Visits:
The EU RoHS Directive is a mandatory standard that aims to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to protect human health and the environment. RoHS testing also applies to all-plastic products. The following is the process for all-plastic EU RoHS testing:

1. Fill in the application form: First, you need to fill in a chemical testing application form and provide basic information about the product, such as name, model, purpose, etc.

2. Provide product pictures and BOM table: Submit product pictures and bill of materials (BOM table) so that the testing agency can understand the composition and materials of the product.

3. Quotation agreement: The testing agency will make a preliminary assessment based on the information provided and give a quotation for the testing fee. After both parties confirm the quotation, a service agreement is signed.

4. Pay the project fee: Pay the full project fee according to the agreement.

5. Mail the sample: Mail the all-plastic sample to be tested to the third-party testing agency. The specific number of samples needs to be confirmed with the staff of the testing agency.

6. Test samples: The testing agency will conduct RoHS testing on the samples, mainly testing whether the content of six harmful substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers meets the requirements of the RoHS directive.

7. Issue a test report: After the test is completed, the testing agency will issue a RoHS test report and send it to the applicant by email. You can also check the report on the website of the third-party testing agency.

Testing cycle

The testing cycle is usually 5-7 working days, and the specific time may vary depending on the actual situation.

Testing standards

The EU RoHS Directive requires that the content of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment shall not exceed the following limits:

- Lead (Pb): 1000 ppm

- Cadmium (Cd): 100 ppm

- Mercury (Hg): 1000 ppm

- Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)): 1000 ppm

- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs): 1000 ppm

- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs): 1000 ppm

Notes

- Make sure the samples and information provided are true and accurate so that the testing agency can conduct effective testing.

- If the test results do not meet the requirements of the RoHS Directive, you need to improve the product and resubmit the sample for testing.

- Choose a third-party testing agency with the corresponding qualifications and capabilities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results.
