Electronic toys Canada SOR/2011-17 testing requirements, according to Canada's Toys Regulations (SOR/2011-17), electronic toys sold in the Canadian market need to meet a series of safety standards. The following are relevant guidelines for electronic toys in Canada SOR/2011-17 testing requirements:

1. Physical and mechanical properties

- Small parts test: small parts in electronic toys should meet the small parts test requirements in Canadian toy safety standards, that is, they cannot pass through the specified small parts cylinder.

- Magnetic strength: If electronic toys contain magnetic parts, their magnetic strength should meet the requirements of SOR/2011-17 standards to ensure that children will not swallow or inhale small magnetic parts during use, causing intestinal blockage and other hazards.

2. Chemical safety

- Heavy metal content: The heavy metal content (such as lead, mercury, etc.) in electronic toys should meet the requirements of SOR/2011-17 standards. The specific requirements are as follows:

- The total lead content of the surface coating material of children's toys shall not exceed 90mg/kg.

- The total mercury content of surface coating materials of children's toys shall not exceed 10mg/kg.

- Phthalates: Vinyl in electronic toys shall not contain more than 1000mg/kg of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP).

- Vinyl in any part of an electronic toy that is placed in the mouth of a child under 4 years of age in a reasonably foreseeable manner shall not contain more than 1000mg/kg of diisononyl phthalate (DINP), diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP) or di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP).

3. Electrical performance

- Electrical safety: Electronic toys must comply with electrical safety standards, including but not limited to:

- Insulation performance of electrical components.

- Voltage withstand performance of electrical components.

- Temperature rise performance of electrical components.

- Battery safety: Batteries used in electronic toys must meet safety standards, including but not limited to:

- Leakage resistance of batteries.

- High temperature resistance of batteries.

- Short circuit resistance of batteries.

4. Flammability

- Burning speed: The materials of electronic toys must meet the flammability standards, and the burning speed must not exceed the prescribed limit.

5. Label and warning requirements

- Warning label: Electronic toys should be accompanied by clear warning labels on the product or packaging to remind consumers to pay attention to safety and prevent children from swallowing or inhaling small magnetic parts.

- Age recommendation: Electronic toys should be recommended according to the age of children to avoid use by children of inappropriate age groups, which may cause safety hazards.

- Bilingual labeling: Any written statement or warning must be labeled in English and French.

6. Continuous compliance requirements

- Tracking regulatory updates: As toy safety regulations are constantly updated and improved, it is necessary to pay close attention to changes in relevant regulations, adjust product design and production processes in a timely manner, and ensure continuous compliance with regulatory requirements.

7. Certification and test reports

- Choose the right testing agency: Choose a testing agency with SOR/2011-17 toy testing qualifications to conduct testing to ensure the safety and compliance of the product.

- Submit test reports: When exporting electronic toys to Canada, you need to submit test reports and certificates to the importer or relevant government agencies to prove that the product meets the relevant safety standards.

Conclusion

Electronic toys exported to the Canadian market must comply with the provisions of SOR/2011-17 and pass the corresponding tests to ensure the safety and compliance of the product. Enterprises should choose qualified third-party testing agencies to test their products and obtain detailed test reports to ensure that the products meet the SOR/2011-17 standards.
