Electric Toys CE Certification EN62115 Test Process

Date:2025-08-08 11:10:56 Classification :【question】 Visits:
The complete process and key requirements for EN62115 CE certification of electric toys, compiled in conjunction with the latest EU regulations:

I. Core Certification Process

1. Application and Document Submission

- Complete the application form (including product model and technical specifications)

- Provide product documentation: manual, circuit schematic, model difference list (required for multiple models), parts list (BOM)

- Ship 2-3 complete and functional test samples

2. Quotation and Agreement Signing

- After evaluating the documentation, the certification body will determine the test standards, fees, and turnaround time (typically 3-5 business days, longer for complex products).

- After confirming the quote, sign the service agreement and pay the fee.

3. Laboratory Testing Phase

- Electrical Safety Testing: Input Power, Temperature Rise, Electrical Strength (Operating Temperature/Room Temperature), Moisture Resistance

- Mechanical Safety Testing: Structural Strength (3 impacts with a 0.5J spring hammer), Accessible Parts Protection (Pinch/Sharp Edge Protection)

- Chemical Safety Testing: REACH Regulation (Phthalates ≤ 0.1%), EN71-3 Heavy Metal Migration (Lead ≤ 13.5 mg/kg)

- Special Items: Battery Abuse Testing (Crush/Punch/Overcharge), USB Interface Safety, LED Photobiological Safety Assessment (New in the 2020 Edition)

4. Report Review and Certificate Issuance

- A test report will be generated upon passing the test, and a CE certificate will be issued upon review.

- Failures will require corrections and retesting.

II. Key Test Items (EN62115 Core Requirements)

| Test Category | Specific Items

| Electrical Safety | Input Power, Heat Generation and Abnormal Operation, Electrical Strength (Hipot Test), Leakage Current (≤ 0.5 mA)

| Mechanical Safety | Drop Test (85 cm Height × 3 Times), Moving Parts Protection, Casing Mechanical Strength

| Chemical Safety | Phthalates (6P), Heavy Metal Migration (EN71-3), Flame Retardant Material Test (Glow Wire 550°C)

| Labels and Instructions | Battery Warning (Button/Coin Cell), Voltage Marking (≤24V), Age Warning Symbol

Note: Updated requirements for the 2020 version of EN62115 include:

Battery warning labels must be clear (e.g., "Hazard of Swallowing").

Adjustments to mechanical impact test parameters (impact force reduced from 0.7J to 0.5J).

Additional stability testing for electric ride-on toys.

III. Required Materials List

- Technical Documents: Circuit Schematic, Product Manual (including safety warnings), Bill of Materials (BOM).

- Sample Requirements: Completely functional, unopened samples, including packaging and accessories.

- Company Information: Business license, manufacturer and importer details.

IV. Common Problems and Pitfalls

1. Labeling Failures: Incorrect/Mislabeled voltage, age warning, or battery risk warning (highest incidence).

2. Structural Defects: Short circuits caused by battery compartment design (accounting for 30% of failures); insulation protection needs to be strengthened.

3. Chemical Exceedances: Phthalates in plastic components exceed standards. Pre-inspection of raw materials is recommended.
