Obtaining a REACH test report for adhesives is crucial for compliant export to the EU.
I. Core Preparations Before Application
1. Clarify Product Information
Specific type of adhesive (e.g., epoxy resin adhesive, neoprene rubber adhesive, sealant, etc.)
Complete ingredient list, including curing agents, accelerators, solvents, and other additives.
Intended use and application scenarios of the product.
2. Select a Compliant Testing Organization
The organization must have CNAS/CMA accreditation and be able to issue EU-recognized test reports.
Prioritize organizations with specialized adhesive testing experience, such as Dezewei Testing.
Confirm that the organization can test for REACH-controlled items such as SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern), PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons), and phthalates.
II. Specific Application Process
1. Application and Quotation
Fill out the application form provided by the testing organization and submit company information and product data.
An engineer will provide a quotation and timeline based on the adhesive material and testing items.
After confirming the quotation, sign a service agreement and pay the fee.
2. Sample Submission
Provide sufficient and representative samples (usually 50-100g, subject to institutional requirements).
Submit the product BOM, chemical formulation declaration, and other technical documents simultaneously.
3. Laboratory Testing
Non-metallic adhesives require testing for 209 SVHC substances.
Key testing items include:
SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern, ≤0.1% is compliant)
PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons), phthalates, and other restricted components
Heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, etc.) content
4. Report Issuance and Compliance Processing
The testing cycle is usually 5-7 working days.
If the SVHC content exceeds 0.1%, a SCIP notification must be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
Obtain a formal REACH test report, which must include limit values, test methods, and compliance conclusions.
5. Subsequent Management
The test report is valid indefinitely, but requires annual re-screening as the SVHC list is updated.
The report must be retained in the product's technical documentation for future reference. EU customs and e-commerce platforms may conduct random checks at any time.
III. Cost Reference
Individual Material Testing: 1000-2000 RMB/material
Mixed Testing (Multiple Materials Tested): 2000-4000 RMB/batch
The cost difference mainly depends on the number of testing items and the complexity of the samples.
