How to handle the GB6675 testing report for tin toy cars and toys in China

Date:2026-03-19 11:24:17 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Regarding the Chinese GB6675 testing report for tin toy cars, due to the fact that the product material involves metal and usually has a mechanical structure, its testing focus is different from that of ordinary plastic toys. The following is a detailed process and testing focus:

1、 Process (5 steps)

Step 1: Confirm product information and quotation

The applicant shall provide product images, material list (BOM table, indicating the type of metal material, such as tinplate, aluminum alloy, etc.), color quantity, and applicable age group (such as 3 years old and above or all age groups).

The testing agency evaluates the cost and cycle based on the above information (usually a regular cycle of 5-7 working days).

Step 2: Fill out the application form and send the sample

Fill out the 'Test Application Form' and specify that the testing standard is GB 6675-2014.

Sending samples: Usually, 3 complete finished product samples need to be prepared. If it is a series style, it needs to be confirmed whether it can be covered (usually different colors and structures may need to be tested separately).

Step 3: Sign the contract and make payment

After both parties confirm the quotation, a contract is signed. The applicant arranges payment, and the laboratory officially opens the case after receiving the samples and payment.

Step 4: Laboratory Testing (Core Stage)

The engineer conducted sub item testing on the tin toy car (see "Testing Items" below for details).

If the test is not qualified, the laboratory will issue a rectification notice, and the applicant will send a new sample for retesting after rectification (which may incur retesting fees).

Step 5: Issue a report

After passing the test, the laboratory will issue a formal testing report with CMA and CNAS qualification seals.

2、 Key testing items for tin toy cars

In the GB6675 inspection of tin toy cars, the following aspects are particularly important and are prone to non-compliance:

1. Mechanical and Physical Properties (GB 6675.2)

This is the most critical testing part for tin toys:

Edge testing: Iron stamping cuts are prone to producing sharp edges, which must be polished or rolled, otherwise they will be directly unqualified.

Cutting edge testing: Check whether the tips of axles, decorative parts, etc. meet safety requirements.

Small parts testing: Check whether the wheels, rearview mirrors and other accessories fall off after the tensile test, and whether the falling objects enter the throat (to prevent swallowing).

Abuse testing: including drop testing, tensile testing (simulating children's violent play), checking whether the structure is loose and whether the iron sheet is deformed to expose dangerous incisions.

2. Migration of Specific Elements (GB 6675.4)

Heavy metal detection: The focus is on the paint coating and metal substrate on the surface of the iron sheet. Detect the migration of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium.

Attention: Old style tin toys often use lead based paint, which is currently one of the most prone items to fail. *

3. Flammability performance (GB 6675.3)

The iron sheet itself is non flammable, but if the toy car comes with stickers, decorative fabrics, or rubber tires, these materials need to pass a combustion test.

4. Identification and Instructions for Use (GB 6675.1)

There must be standardized Chinese labels on the product or packaging, including: product name, applicable age, manufacturer name and address, implementation standard code (GB 6675-2014), warning language, etc.

3、 Common nonconformities and improvement suggestions

|Common non conformities | Cause analysis | Rectification suggestions

|Sharp edges | Unprocessed iron stamping cuts, or burrs in assembly gaps | Strengthen production processes by curling, folding, or polishing the cuts.

|Excessive heavy metal content | High lead content in paint/coatings, or high impurities in metal substrates | Use environmentally friendly water-based paint and purchase lead-free iron sheet materials that meet standards.

|Small parts come off | Wheels and decorative parts are not firmly riveted | Strengthen the riveting process or use a more secure connection method.

|Missing identification | No Chinese information on packaging or product | Printing standardized Chinese certificates or labels according to standard requirements.

4、 Cost and cycle reference

Cost: Depending on the complexity of the product and the quantity of color and material, it usually ranges from a few hundred to over a thousand RMB.

Cycle: Normally 5-7 working days. If urgent service is required, some institutions can provide a 3-day expedited service.

Summary:

The core difficulties in obtaining the GB6675 report for tin toy cars lie in "sharp edges" and "coating heavy metals". It is recommended to conduct pre testing before mold opening or mass production to confirm material and process compliance before mass production, in order to avoid significant losses caused by rectification.
