Guidelines for Handling ROHS Testing and Certification Reports for Microwave Ovens in China
1、 Scope of application
Microwave ovens belong to household appliances and are explicitly included in the control scope of China's ROHS (Management Measures for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products). Whether sold domestically or imported into China, microwave ovens must meet the requirements for hazardous substance restrictions and obtain corresponding testing and certification.
2、 Handling process
Step 1: Confirm the product scope and applicable standards
Determine the specific model and specifications of the microwave oven, confirm the applicable hazardous substance limit standards (China ROHS 2.0), and whether it needs to be included in the compliance management catalog.
Step 2: Prepare samples and materials
Provide the complete microwave oven and all its components (shell, circuit board, wires, plastic parts, metal parts, etc.), prepare product manuals, bill of materials (BOM), parts list and other technical information.
Step 3: Inspection and Testing
Send the samples to a third-party testing institution with CMA/CNAS qualifications (Dezewei Testing CNAS registration number: L8083), which will conduct harmful substance testing on each homogeneous material of the product.
Step 4: Issue a testing report
After passing the test, the testing agency will issue a China ROHS testing report recognized by CNAS; If certification is required, one can apply to the relevant certification body.
Step 5: Identification and Filing
According to the test results, add a "green label" or "orange label" hazardous substance restriction label on the product or manual, and report the information on the platform of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
3、 Test project
|Restricted substances | Limit requirements | Testing method reference
|Lead (Pb) | ≤ 0.1% (1000mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
|Mercury (Hg) | ≤ 0.1% (1000mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
|Cadmium (Cd) | ≤ 0.01% (100mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
|Hexavalent chromium (Cr VI) | ≤ 0.1% (1000mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
|Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) | ≤ 0.1% (1000mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
|Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) | ≤ 0.1% (1000mg/kg) | GB/T 26125
Note: Microwave ovens need to undergo split testing on all homogeneous materials, including plastic shells, inner lining coatings, printed circuit boards, capacitors, transformers, wires and cables, heat sinks, fasteners, etc.
4、 List of required documents
1. Product technical information: product manual, specification sheet, circuit diagram, PCB wiring diagram
2. Bill of Materials (BOM): Complete listing of all raw materials, components, and supplier information
3. Samples: Typically, 2-3 complete machine samples and key component samples need to be provided
4. Application Form: Commissioned Testing Application Form provided by the Testing Institution
5. Identification information: Proposed hazardous substance restriction use identification style
5、 Processing cycle and cost reference
|Project | Reference Information
|Testing cycle | 5-10 working days (under normal circumstances)
|Certification cycle | 1-2 months (including factory inspection, etc.)
|Testing fee | Depending on the complexity of the product, it is generally between 1000-2000 yuan
|Certification fee | Certification fee+Testing fee+Factory inspection fee, varies depending on the institution
Cost influencing factors: The more types of product materials and the more parts are disassembled, the higher the testing cost; There are also differences in quotes from different testing institutions.
6、 Precautions
1. Homogeneous material splitting is key: Testing agencies may require the product to be split into multiple homogeneous material layers, each layer must meet the limit requirements separately, and the splitting report directly affects the accuracy of the testing results.
2. Choose a legitimate testing institution: It is necessary to choose a third-party testing laboratory that has obtained CMA/CNAS qualifications to ensure the legal validity and market recognition of the report.
3. Pay attention to exemption clauses: China ROHS has a supporting list of exceptions for the application of restricted substances in the standard management catalog. Some components in microwave ovens may meet the exemption conditions and need to be carefully checked.
4. The labeling should be standardized: the green label indicates that the harmful substance content meets the standard, and the orange label indicates that the harmful substance content has not reached the standard but has been declared. Enterprises should correctly apply labeling according to the actual situation.
5. Timely update information: If the product formula or raw material supplier changes, retesting and updating of filing information are required.
