RoHS Test Report Process for Electronic Displays in the EU

I. Background of the RoHS Directive

RoHS 2.0 (2011/65/EU) is an EU directive restricting hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Electronic displays (including LCD displays, LED displays, OLED panels, etc.), as common electronic and electrical products, must meet RoHS compliance requirements to be sold in the EU market, and this compliance must be reflected along with the CE marking.

II. RoHS Testing Product Scope

Electronic display related products mainly include:

Computer monitors, monitors

Televisions (flat-screen TVs, smart TVs)

Laptop screens

Tablet displays

Automotive displays

Industrial display equipment

Electronic advertising screens, video wall displays

III. RoHS Test Report Processing Procedure

1. Preliminary Preparation Stage

Determine Product Scope: Clarify the type of display and whether it includes power supplies, cables, etc.

Prepare Technical Documents: Product BOM list, material composition table, design drawings

Material Breakdown: Break down the product into different materials such as metal parts, plastic parts, electronic components, and cables.

Select Testing Institution: Entrust a third-party laboratory with CNAS/CMA accreditation (Dezewei Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083)

2. Sample Submission Stage

Sample Quantity: Determined according to material type; typically 20-50g per material component.

Sample Requirements: Must be consistent with mass-produced products; provide product labels and instructions.

Complete Application Form: Clarify the testing standard (IEC) 62321), Test Items, Applicable Directive Clauses

3. Laboratory Testing Stage

| Test Items | Test Methods | Limit Requirements

| Lead (Pb) | IEC 62321-5 | ≤1000ppm

| Mercury (Hg) | IEC 62321-4 | ≤1000ppm

| Cadmium (Cd) | IEC 62321-5 | ≤100ppm

| Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) | IEC 62321-7-1 | ≤1000ppm

| Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs) | IEC 62321-6 | ≤1000ppm

| Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) | IEC 62321-6 | ≤1000ppm

| Phthalate Esters (4 items) | IEC 62321-8 | ≤1000ppm

4. Report Issuance Stage

After testing, the laboratory issues a RoHS test report.

The report includes: product information, testing methods, test results for each material, and judgment conclusions.

If any item fails to meet the requirements, the cause must be analyzed and rectified before resubmission for testing.

IV. Precautions

Comprehensive Disassembly: Electronic displays have complex structures, requiring separate testing for each material component.

Key Components to Focus On: Display screen plastic frame, circuit board, connecting cables, and outer casing plastic parts.

Supply Chain Management: Ensure raw material suppliers provide RoHS compliant documentation.

Continuous Compliance: RoHS compliance needs to be reassessed after product design or material changes.

V. Cycle and Cost Reference

| Item | Reference Scope

| Testing Cycle | 5-7 working days

| Cost | Determined based on product material type and testing items
