2. Fill out the application form: Provide product information (material, color, use, etc.)
3. Send samples: Usually, about 50g per sample is sufficient.
4. Laboratory testing: Reports are generally issued in 5-7 working days (expedited processing can shorten this time).
5. Report issuance: Electronic version + stamped paper version
II. Main testing items involved in button and zipper testing
REACH SVHC Substances of Very High Concern: Screening for 253+ substances of very high concern (exceeding 0.1%) (To be informed)
REACH Annex XVII Restricted Substances: Commonly included:
Heavy metals such as lead and cadmium
Phytates (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIBP, etc., 6 items)
Azo dyes (AZO, 22 items)
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs, 18 items)
Ni release (metal parts in direct contact with skin)
Organotin compounds (TBT, TPhT, etc.)
III. Required Documents
1. Product images and specifications
2. Material description (metal/plastic/resin/alloy, etc.)
3. Applicant/manufacturer's business license
4. Application Form
IV. Notes
Buttons with metal plating require close monitoring of nickel release and lead/cadmium content.
Zipper metal parts require close monitoring of nickel release and PAHs.
Plastic/resin buttons require close monitoring of phthalates and SVHCs.
When exporting finished garments to the EU, buttons and zippers, as components, must also comply with REACH requirements.
It is recommended to include an English version of the report for easy customs clearance by EU clients.
V. Processing Recommendations
Communicate with the testing agency in advance to clarify the product's end use (adult/child) and skin contact.
Establish a supply chain materials list for easy traceability and compliance.
Testing cycles and costs vary depending on the number of tests; it is recommended to select tests according to needs.
