Guidelines for Obtaining EU RoHS Test Reports for PCB Boards
I. Core Overview
PCB boards (printed circuit boards) are core components of electronic products, and even when exported to the EU independently, a RoHS report is required. Testing is typically conducted according to the IEC 62321 series of standards, covering lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE (RoHS 2.0), and DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP (RoHS 3.0 adds four phthalates).
II. Application Process (5 Steps)
1. Inquiry and Quotation → Provide product images, specifications, and material descriptions to request a quote from the testing agency.
2. Application Form Completion → The client provides company and product information, and the agency issues a testing plan.
3. Sample Submission → Prepare 2-3 PCB board samples (recommended size ≥ 50mm × 50mm, including solder, substrate, solder mask, and other complete components).
4. Laboratory Testing → Disassembly and chemical analysis are performed according to IEC 62321 standards. The cycle is generally 5-7 working days.
5. Report Issuance → Upon successful testing, a RoHS test report (Chinese or English version) with CNAS/CMA accreditation will be issued (DEZEW Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083).
III. Key Required Documents
Application Form (template provided by the organization)
Product Manual or BOM List
Sample (pure PCB board, excluding other electronic components)
Client's Business License
IV. Testing Part Breakdown (Important)
To ensure the validity of the report, it is recommended to test multiple parts of the PCB separately:
| Testing Part | Testing Purpose
| Substrate | Testing PBB/PBDE in flame retardants
| Solder/Pad | Testing lead (Pb) content
| Solder Mask (Green Oil) | Testing heavy metal migration
| Plating (Immersion Gold, Copper Plating) | Testing cadmium and hexavalent chromium
V. Considerations for Choosing an Organization
Look for CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) or CMA accreditation
Prefer third-party laboratories whose reports are recognized by EU clients
The report validity period is usually... 1-2 years; it is recommended to obtain the latest version before shipment.
Estimated cost: Single board testing approximately 800-2000 RMB; testing of multiple parts will incur correspondingly higher costs.
