The Health and Safety Executive Committee (HSE) of the UK Department of Health has warned the public not to use many e-cigarette products due to illegal nicotine levels found in Ireland.
Irish retailers have received orders to cancel sales of these two products and issue recall notices to customers.
These two products are both MK Bar 7.000S disposable brand MacCasey, with separate flavors such as blue and raspberry ice and green apples, subject to warnings.
These products contain nicotine in excess of the allowable amount of 2% or 20 milligrams per milliliter.
HSE's environmental health services, the National Tobacco Control Office, have submitted alerts to the European Security Gate, the EU's rapid warning system for hazardous non food products.
This is the second warning issued by the Environmental Health Agency to the European Union in recent weeks.
Therefore, I must remind manufacturers and importers of e-cigarettes and filling containers that they have a responsibility to ensure that they fully comply with all legislative requirements, "said Morris Mulcahy, HSE Regional Chief Environmental Health Officer.
Anyone who purchases these products is advised to avoid using them and return them to the store they purchased.
Retailers have been instructed to issue recall notices on retail websites and social media. The store is also required to provide HSE with supplier tracking details for related products.
