The RoHS certification promoted by China is a requirement of the "Catalogue of Restricted Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2019.
I. Specific Items of the Ten Tests
The ten RoHS tests for mice and keyboards in China cover the following categories:
1. Heavy Metals: Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
2. Flame Retardants: Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs)
3. Newly Added Controlled Substances: Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Butylbenzyl Phthalate (BBP), (2-Hexyl)hexyl Phthalate (DEHP), Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD). Some tests also include diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) as a newly added supplementary item for phthalates.
II. Testing Limits
Cadmium (Cd): Content ≤0.01% (100ppm), the most strictly controlled substance among the ten.
The remaining nine substances: Lead, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBBs), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs), DEHP, DBP, BBP, and HBCDD all have limits ≤0.1% (1000ppm).
Special Exemption Limits for Metal Alloys: Lead content in steel alloys ≤3500ppm, lead in aluminum alloys ≤4000ppm, and lead in copper alloys ≤40000ppm.
III. Material-Specific Testing Rules
1. Metallic Materials: Only lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium need to be tested.
2. Non-metallic Materials: Non-metallic components such as mouse shells, keyboard keycaps, circuit boards, and plastic cables need to complete all 10 tests.
3. Packaging Materials: Separate heavy metal testing is required, complying with the relevant environmental protection requirements of 94/62/EEC packaging.
During testing, the mouse and keyboard will be physically disassembled into individual materials that cannot be mechanically separated, and each material will be tested separately.
IV. Certification Report Processing Procedure
1. Preliminary Preparation: Compile a list of mouse and keyboard component materials, product manuals, circuit diagrams, supplier raw material testing reports, and other relevant documents. Prepare 2-3 complete sets of samples.
2. Quotation and Payment: Submit the documents to a third-party testing organization with CMA/CNAS accreditation (Dezewei Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083). The organization will provide a quotation based on the quantity of materials and testing items. After confirmation, a service agreement will be signed and full payment will be made.
3. Sample Submission and Testing: Send the samples to the organization's address. Upon receipt, the laboratory will initiate the disassembly and testing process, using professional equipment such as ICP-OES and GC-MS to complete the quantitative analysis of hazardous substances.
4. Report Issuance: The standard service cycle is 5-7 working days. After passing the test, an official China RoHS test report will be obtained. Both electronic and paper delivery methods are supported. Expedited service can shorten the processing time to 3-5 working days.
