Guidelines for Handling EU RoHS Reports on Automotive Window Switches
1、 Overview and Scope of RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is a mandatory regulation of the European Union for the restriction of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment. The current version is RoHS 2.0 (2011/65/EU), which was officially implemented in January 2013 and included in the CE certification system.

3、 Handling process
1. Pre preparation stage
Enterprises need to prepare technical documents such as BOM (Bill of Materials), raw material composition description, production process flow chart, and product specifications for car window switches. At the same time, it is necessary to clarify the material composition of the product, especially the supplier information of components such as plastic shells, metal parts, electronic components, wiring harnesses, switch contacts, etc.
2. Sample inspection stage

GC-MS method → used for quantitative analysis of phthalates
Boiling water extraction method+colorimetric method → special confirmation detection for hexavalent chromium
4. Report preparation and review stage
After the testing is completed, the laboratory issues a RoHS testing report, which includes testing data, judgment conclusions, and testing method instructions for each material. Enterprises can use this report as proof of product compliance with the RoHS directive.
