Testing Procedures for Assembled Metal Toys under China's GB6675 Standard

Assembled metal toys (such as metal model kits, metal building toys, and metal remote-controlled toys) fall under the scope of the mandatory national standard GB6675. Before being produced, sold, or imported into China, they must undergo testing and obtain a certificate of conformity.

I. Application Process Overview

The GB6675 testing application for assembled metal toys mainly involves the following five steps:

II. Detailed Application Steps

1. Confirm Product Standards and Testing Scope

Before application, it is necessary to clarify the specific type of product and applicable standards:

GB 6675.1-2014 — General Requirements (Mechanical and Physical Properties, Flammability, etc.)

GB 6675.2-2014 — Mechanical and Physical Properties

GB 6675.3-2014 — Flammability

GB 6675.4-2014 — Migration of Specific Elements (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic, Barium, Antimony, etc.)

GB 6675.13-2014 — Applicable Age for Toys (Generally 3 years and above for assembled toys)

GB 6675.14-2014 — Finger Paint Requirements (if applicable)

The focus for assembled metal toys is on mechanical and physical properties and the testing of specific element migration.

2. Choosing a Qualified Testing Organization

It is recommended to choose a third-party testing laboratory with the following qualifications:

CMA Accreditation (China Metrology Accreditation)

CNAS Accreditation (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) (DEZEW Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083)

Designated testing organizations for mandatory toy certification by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA)

The list of qualified organizations can be found on the CNCA website or the CNCA website.

3. Submit Application Materials

Submit the following materials to the testing organization:

| Material Name | Description

| Product Sample | Provide representative product samples (usually 3-5 pieces)

| Product Instruction Manual | Includes applicable age and material information

| Bill of Materials | List metal materials and surface treatment processes

| Process Flow Description | If welding, spraying, electroplating, etc. are involved, please explain.

| Business License | Copy of the manufacturer's business license

4. Conduct Testing

The testing organization will conduct the following tests on the samples according to GB6675 standard:

| Test Category | Specific Items

| Mechanical and Physical Properties | Edge, sharp point, small parts, assembly strength, torque test, drop test, etc.

| Combustion Performance | Overall burning rate test of the toy

| Specific Element Migration | Migration of eight heavy metals including lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, barium, antimony, selenium, and chromium

| Electrical Toy Safety | If the toy contains batteries or electronic components, electrical safety testing is also required.

5. Obtaining a Test Report

The testing period typically takes 5-7 business days.

Testing fees vary depending on the complexity of the product's materials, generally ranging from 1000-3000 RMB.

A formal test report will be issued upon successful completion of the test, including product information, testing methods, result interpretation, and conclusions.
