Children's Puzzle Building Blocks EU EN71 Certification Report

I. Necessity of Certification

As toys for children under 14 years old, children's puzzle building blocks must pass EN71 certification to be sold in the EU market. This is a mandatory requirement of the EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC). Products that do not obtain certification will face the following consequences:

Unable to be sold in the EU market

Detained or destroyed by customs

Facing hefty fines and legal proceedings

II. Main Testing Items

| Standard | Test Content

| EN 71-1 | Physical and mechanical properties (sharp points, sharp edges, small parts, compressive strength, etc.)

| EN 71-2 | Flammability test (ensuring the material is not easily flammable)

| EN 71-3 | Heavy metal migration (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and 19 other elements)

| EN 71-7 | Specific element migration in finger paint (applicable to building blocks with paintbrush functions)

III. Certification Process

1. Submit Application — Provide product information and a material list

2. Send Samples — Send samples of typical models to an accredited laboratory

3. Testing and Rectification — Complete the tests according to the standard; any non-conformities must be rectified

4. Issuance of Report — CNAS accreditation report obtained after testing.

5. Preparation of DOC Documents — Drafting Declaration of Conformity

IV. Required Materials

Product Instructions and Technical Drawings

Bill of Materials (BOM) and Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

Information on Key Raw Material Suppliers

Product Labels (must include CE marking, age warning, and manufacturer information)

Samples (usually 3-5 sets)

V. Timeline and Cost Reference

| Project | Typical Timeline | Cost Range

| Wooden Building Blocks | 5-7 working days | ¥800-2000 |

VI. Precautions

Different Materials: Testing focuses differ for wood, plastic, and paper. Plastic building blocks require special attention to plasticizers (phthalates).

Age Rating: Toys for children aged 0-3 years require additional attention to choking risk (small parts are tested more rigorously).

Batch Management: It is recommended to certify products from the same batch to avoid problems caused by differences in composition.

Validity Period: The EN71 report itself has no fixed validity period, but retesting is required if materials or processes change.
