What is TELEC certification? The Japanese TELEC certification is called the Japanese radio wave method, also known as the MIC certification, which is the certification for radio frequency equipment in Japan. The Radio Law requires that the designated radio equipment be subject to type approval (i.e. technical regulation compliance certification). The certification authority is the registered certification authority approved by MIC in the designated radio equipment range.

TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) is the main registered certification authority for compliance certification of radio equipment in Japan.

TELEC certification follows Japan's Radio Wave Law, and the specific test specification follows MIC Notice No. 88. According to the requirements of Japan's Radio Wave Law, the production, sale and operation of radio equipment in Japan must comply with the technical regulations approved by MIC, and it is mandatory to apply for the type approval certificate of radio equipment (i.e. TELEC certification).


TELEC certification scope

TELEC certification is aimed at wireless RF products, including Bluetooth products, ZigBee products, telemeters, WiFi products, wireless microphones, pagers, LTE · RFID (2.4GHz, 920MHz) products, UWB radio systems, GSM products, etc.


TELEC Certification Classification

TELEC certification includes test certification and type certification.

Test certification is to verify each equipment unit, and this certification is only valid for each verified equipment unit;

Type approval refers to the verification of samples of a batch of equipment designed and manufactured in the same way. This certification is valid for this batch of equipment. However, if the design or manufacture of the equipment changes, the equipment will need to be re-certified.

It is worth noting that the use of non-low-power wireless power stations and their terminal equipment needs to apply for a license from MIC. In addition, there are two types of compliance certification for telecommunication terminal equipment: for ordinary telephone devices, JATE certification is only required according to the requirements of the Telecommunications Business Law; For wireless terminal equipment, in addition to JATE certification according to the requirements of the telecommunications industry law, TELEC certification according to the requirements of the wireless electricity law is also required.

4. Operation description; (That is, the description of the working principle and process of the chip and crystal oscillator in the block diagram of the other party needs to reflect the model and crystal oscillator information);

7. Tag number diagram; (i.e. the component location map on the PCB board)

8. Label; (It is required to indicate the size and the location map on the product to reflect the size of MIC logo, MIC number and MIC logo)

TELEC Certification Process

1. Fill in the application form and prepare materials and samples;

2. The testing agency reviews the data and preliminarily tests the samples;

3. The testing institution shall formally apply to the institution approved by MIC of the General Affairs Department;

4. Institutional review documents;

5. Sample test, provide test report (can be tested by authorized laboratory);

6. After the documents and test reports are passed, MIC of Japan will issue certificates.
