The cost and cycle of RoHS2.0 testing for electric toys, also known as RoHS testing for toys, is to detect the hazards of toy materials; All toys exported to Europe, whether electric or manual, require RoHS testing before customs clearance can be carried out.
RoHS is a mandatory standard established by EU legislation, with its full name being the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment". The standard was officially implemented on July 1, 2006 and is mainly used to standardize the materials and processes of electronic and electrical products, making it more conducive to human health and environmental protection. The purpose of this standard is to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (note: the correct Chinese name of PBDE refers to Polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and polybrominated biphenyls is a wrong statement) in electrical and electronic products, a total of 6 substances, and it focuses on the provision that the content of lead should not exceed 0.1%.
Toy Rohs Certification Directive:
(ROHS Directive) 2011/65/EU European RoHS 2011/65/EU requires 6 items to be tested, and the directive takes effect as the ROHS Directive.
RoHS test items include lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), Hexavalent chromium (Cr), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
Regarding projects such as HBCDD, BBP, DBP, DEHP, etc., this directive only mentions whether they will be included in the control in the subsequent priority evaluation, and does not mandate manufacturers to conduct testing.
The product host can be divided into the following three major parts:
1. External components: such as shells, power cords, screws, etc., which can be disassembled to around 1-24 pieces, require RoHS certification.
2. Internal components: such as binding straps, glue, etc., depending on the complexity of the product, combined with external components, it is generally possible to disassemble up to 25-100 components
3. PCB board, which has a lot of information on electrical appliances, such as resistors, capacitors, soldering, etc., plus the first two parts, it can be disassembled to about 100-160 raw materials.
After dismantling these raw materials, a test is conducted based on whether they are exempt from RoHS certification. The general test cycle is about 7 working days, and the sample requires at least 1 set of products.
The fees required for ROHS certification of electric toys need to be charged based on the material, and the more materials used, the higher the fee; The current market charges a few hundred yuan for a single material, and prices for multiple materials can generally be negotiated again.
