Magnets' GCC certification in the United States, General Certificate of Conformity, is a certificate that certifies that a non-children's (general use) product complies with all applicable consumer product safety rules.

This kind of certificate is a written statement issued by the manufacturer or importer based on a reasonable testing plan that its products meet specific safety standards and regulatory requirements. The U.S. GCC conformity certificate applies to non-children's products, that is, products for adults, and these The product must be on the GCC product list provided by CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission).

Products requiring GCC qualification certificates include but are not limited to architectural glass materials, clothing, mattresses, bunk beds, paint and similar surface coatings, carpets, etc.


There is a clear difference in the scope of application of GCC and CPC: GCC certificates are suitable for non-children's products, while CPC certificates are for children's products, mainly consumer products designed or used by children aged 12 and under.


The information that needs to be included in the GCC certificate includes:

The product identification corresponding to this certificate. Describe the rules, prohibitions, standards, or regulations that the product must comply with. Information on importers or domestic manufacturers that prove product compliance. For products such as magnets, if they fall within the product scope covered by the technical regulations for low-voltage electrical equipment and supplies, they must obtain a GCC certification before they can be sold in the U.S. market. This includes meeting physical, material, labeling and testing requirements to ensure product safety, particularly for magnets and magnetic-containing products that may pose a serious safety risk to consumers. In the United States, 16 CFR Part 1262 regulates the safety of magnet products. Requirements designed to reduce or eliminate the possibility of children (and adults) ingesting dangerous magnets and being harmed as a result.

Therefore, manufacturers or importers of magnet products need to ensure that their products comply with these regulations and issue corresponding GCC certificates of conformity.
