On January 22, 2025, the European Union officially issued(EU) 2025/40Packaging and  Packaging Waste  Regulation, referred to as PPWR, which will formally repeal and completely replace the existing 94/62/EC Directive on August 12, 2026, becoming the main regulation of the EU on packaging and packaging waste management.

PPWR systematically integrates the requirements of hazardous substance limits, recycled content, recyclability classification (A-C) and packaging reduction targets, forming a full life cycle management framework for packaging, and for the first time in the packaging field, it upgrades the recycled content from an encouraging target to a mandatory requirement. style="font-size:16px;">, and set detailed phased targets for different types of plastic packaging.
