What information is needed for EU REACH testing of lead and cadmium in metal par

Date:2025-02-27 10:18:40 Classification :【question】 Visits:
According to the requirements of the EU REACH regulation for lead and cadmium testing of metal parts, the following core information and processes need to be prepared:

I. Basic application materials

1. Test application form

- Complete company information (Chinese and English name, address), product material type, and test items (lead, cadmium and other heavy metal tests must be clearly marked).

2. Product technical documents

- Contains product manuals, design drawings, and production flow charts, and detailed descriptions of the use of metal parts and how they contact the human body (such as jewelry must indicate whether they pierce the skin).

II. Sample and material information

1. Physical samples

- Provide representative metal parts samples (usually 5 sets), covering all materials and surface treatment processes (such as plating, coating).

2. Material composition list

- List all metal components and alloy ratios (such as stainless steel, copper alloy, etc.), and mark parts that may contain lead and cadmium (such as solder, plating materials).

3. Chemical substance declaration

- Provide chemical substance compliance certificates from raw material suppliers, especially lead and cadmium content declarations.

III. Testing Items and Standards

1. Lead Content Testing

- Limit requirements: Lead content in jewelry products must be ≤0.05% (mass ratio), or lead release rate ≤0.05μg/cm²/h.

2. Cadmium Content Testing

- Limit requirements: Cadmium content in metal jewelry must comply with REACH Annex XVII restrictions (such as cadmium in jewelry ≤0.01%).

3. Other related tests

- If skin contact is involved (such as jewelry), nickel release test (≤0.5μg/cm²/week) is required.

IV. Process and precautions

1. Select certification body

- Give priority to EU-approved laboratories (such as Dezewei Testing) to submit applications to ensure that the test report is recognized by platforms such as Amazon.

2. Sample testing and evaluation

- The laboratory conducts chemical analysis on the samples and evaluates the risks of substances such as lead and cadmium.

3. Obtaining Compliance Certificate

- After passing the test, the laboratory will issue a REACH test report and a Declaration of Conformity (DOC), which must include specific test data for lead, cadmium, etc.

V. Special Requirements

- Amazon platform: An additional RSL-Report (Restricted Substance List Report) must be provided, clearly marking the lead and cadmium test results.

- Update regulations: Regularly pay attention to the update of the SVHC list released by ECHA (currently 247 items) to ensure that the materials meet the latest restrictions.

Tip: There may be slight differences between different testing agencies. It is recommended to communicate specific requirements in advance. The complete regulations and cases can be referenced.
