RoHS testing is a mandatory standard established by EU legislation. Directive on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The standard has been officially implemented since July 1, 2006, mainly used to regulate the material and process standards of electrical and electronic products, making it more conducive to human health and environmental protection.

The EU RoHS2.0 test 10 (2011/65/EU) is the latest RoHS standard; that is, on July 21, 2011, the revised RoHS directive (2011/65/EU) replaced the old RoHS directive 6 (2002/95/ EC).

RoHS test item limit, the content of the following substances in the homogeneous material of the product shall not exceed the limit value in the table:

Coverage: Large household appliances, small household appliances, information technology and telecommunications equipment, consumer equipment, lighting equipment, power tools, toys, entertainment and sports equipment, medical equipment, monitoring and control equipment, automatic distribution equipment, not covered by the above categories other electrical and electronic equipment.

China pushes ROHS testing

The promulgation and implementation of the "Administrative Measures for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" in 2016 and the "Administrative Catalogue for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" in 2019 means the official implementation of ROHS. For electrical and electronic manufacturers, successfully passing the certification is not only a need for government regulation, but also a basic requirement to win the trust of consumers.
