Baking parchment consists of a base paper coated with a silicone release layer. Both components fall under the regulatory scope for food-contact materials. Since the paper is exposed to high temperatures and fats/oils during baking, these conditions are the primary focus of the testing. Standard Testing Items
1. Sensory Indicators: Color, odor, and foreign matter; must be free from off-odors, stains, loose particles, or peeling coatings.
2. Overall Migration: Tested using an olive oil simulant at a high temperature of 175°C, simulating conditions for oven-baking.
3. Heavy Metals: Lead content.
4. Fluorescent Substances: Must be free from detectable migratory optical brighteners.
5. Pentachlorophenol (PCP).
6. Microbiological Indicators: Coliforms, molds, and yeasts.
7. Additional Optional Items: Siloxane migration, potassium permanganate consumption (included upon client request).
