Ink EU REACH testing and certification process

Date:2023-11-13 10:30:05 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Ink is an important material used for printing. It expresses patterns and text on the substrate through printing or inkjet printing. Ink exports to the EU require REACH testing and certification. According to the requirements of the REACH regulations, when a certain chemical substance in a substance or preparation (such as ink) sold on the market exceeds 1 ton per year, the manufacturer or importer must first register with the EU Chemicals The product must be registered with the EU before the product is allowed to be sold in the EU. Therefore, inks exported to the EU need to meet the requirements of REACH certification.

The EU REACH testing and certification process for inks generally includes the following steps:

1. Registration: First, the manufacturer or importer needs to submit a chemical registration application to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This step involves providing relevant information such as the chemical’s identity, use, hazardous characteristics, etc.

2. Evaluation: ECHA and relevant agencies of European member states will evaluate the submitted registration information. They determine the safety of chemicals and recommend whether measures need to be taken to protect human health and the environment.

3. Authorization: If a chemical is assessed as having a hazard of high concern, the manufacturer or importer must obtain authorization to sell the chemical in the European market. The authorization process may impose conditions, such as restricting use or requiring the development of alternatives.

The EU REACH testing process for inks includes the following steps:

1. The applicant fills out the REACH application form. This form is usually provided by the testing agency, and applicants need to fill in the relevant information in detail.

2. Provide a product component list, also known as the BOM list. This helps identify the specific chemical ingredients and substances in the product.

3. The testing staff will determine the testing fee based on the materials provided and confirm the quotation with the applicant. This step ensures that the applicant has a clear understanding of the cost and related aspects of the test.

4. After confirming the quotation, the applicant needs to sign the quotation contract and pay the full project fee. After that, the applicant needs to prepare test samples, and the specific number of test samples will be connected and confirmed with the staff.

5. After the test is completed, the engineer will process the data and issue a REACH test report. This report details the product’s test results and compliance.

6. The testing agency will mail the paper report to the applicant, or provide the original electronic report. In this way, the applicant obtains authoritative proof of whether the product complies with REACH regulations.

7. Close the case and enter after-sales service. At this step, if the applicant has any questions or needs further assistance, he or she can contact the testing agency for consultation.
