What is RED certification?

RED certification is a radio equipment directive. The EU must comply with the RED radio and communication terminal directives for wireless remote control products and communication products. On May 22, 2014, the European Union announced a new version of the wireless device directive RED 2014/53/EU, which is based on the EU's new CE framework decision 768/2008/EC. RED 2014/53/EU replaces the original one. EU Wireless Equipment Directive R&TTE-D 1999/5/EC. All wireless products need to comply with the RED directive before they can be circulated in the EU market.

RED certification includes two aspects

One is RE: Radio Equipment wireless products (such as mobile phones);

The second is TTE: Telecommunication Terminal Equipment.

RED product certification scope

1. Short-distance wireless remote control products (SRD) such as: remote control toy cars, remote control alarm systems, remote control doorbells, remote control switches, remote control mice, keyboards, etc.

2. Professional radio remote control products (PMR) such as: professional wireless walkie-talkies, wireless microphones, etc.

3. Wireless phone CTO, CT1, CT1+…

4, ISDN (digital telephone products).

5, DECT (enhanced digital wireless telephone).

6, mobile phone GSM, CDMA test.

7. Bluetooth products such as: Bluetooth headset.

8. Inductive data transmission equipment with operating frequency < 9 kHz.

RED Test Item

1. Electromagnetic compatibility test (EMC test);

2. Safety test LVD (in the new directive, this test is also required for RF products with battery input);

3. Conduct radio communication equipment test (RF test) according to European ETSI standard;

4. Notification of permitted spectrum in Europe;

5. CTR (TBR) test;

6. Electrical safety and health protection test (SAR assessment).

RED Certification Process

1. Determine the requirements of the directives and standards that the product should meet;

2. The customer prepares prototypes and technical documents and other materials and submits them to Dezewei;

3. Dezewei tests the prototype and issues a test report;

4. Establish technical documents and affix CE marks to products.
