What is ETL certification

ETL is the abbreviation of Electrical Testing Laboratories in the United States. ETL laboratory was founded by American inventor Edison in 1896 and enjoys a high reputation in the United States and the world. Like UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification marks according to UL standards or American national standards, and can also test and issue composite certification marks according to UL standards or American national standards and CSA standards or Canadian standards. "us" in the bottom right means it's for the US, "c" in the bottom left means it's for Canada, and having both "us" and "c" means it's for both countries.

Factory Inspection

ETL needs to carry out factory inspection before issuing the certificate, and then follow-up factory inspection from time to time every quarter. If required, inspectors can witness re-testing of the product or take a sample and test it in the laboratory.

The licensee must sign a statutory contract (service agreement) with ETL, which clearly defines the manufacturer's responsibilities and the conditions for continuous ETL listing and use of the ETL mark.

ETL Certification Program

Leakage current test; the sample used for leakage current test has not undergone other tests before the test;

Normal temperature rise; test method; thermocouple; the standard requires the use of 24-30AWG thermocouple, (currently 30AWG used in the laboratory);

Leakage current test after tidal state; General test conditions; T= 32+/-2°C, RH= 88 ±2%. Duration; Take out after 48 hours for leakage current test Test conditions T=20~30°C, RH=93+/-3%;

Withstand voltage test; generally products without double insulation and grounding product requirements; 1000 V / 1 minute (set the target voltage ramp time of the device to 5 seconds, set the cut-off current to 8.3 mA, and then maintain the target voltage for 1 minute).

Product Information

Circuit schematic diagram (please note that its parameters must be consistent with those on the nameplate and manual);

Printed circuit layout, parts location map;

Products with electronic circuits must be provided;

If electronic components such as electronic switches and dimmers have been certified, this item may not be provided;

English manual (the manual must have the factory name or trademark, model, parameters, installation method and necessary safety warnings);

Model difference statement (if there are multiple models in the same series, the similarities and differences between the models must be clearly identified. The statement must be signed);

Product installation structure diagram/exploded diagram (please specify each part number and part name);

List of key parts and components (the list must be signed);

Corresponding to the codes in the exploded diagram, each component is listed in turn;

One for each series of products, please indicate if a component is only applicable to a specific model;

A copy of the certificate of the important components related to safety (refer to the requirements of the "Key Parts List" to provide the certificate, and check the serial number on the certificate and whether the parameters are consistent with the actual sample);

Others (nameplates, test samples, application forms, etc.).
