Stainless steel US California 65 testing project

Date:2024-02-19 11:24:47 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Stainless steel exports require California 65 testing. California 65 is California’s proposal to increase attention to accessible toxic chemicals, referred to as “California Proposition 65.” The proposal would require manufacturers or sellers to self-test products sold in California to ensure they do not contain excessive amounts of harmful chemicals and provide clear warnings to consumers. For daily necessities such as stainless steel tableware, California Proposition 65 usually focuses on the content of harmful substances such as lead and cadmium. Therefore, stainless steel exported to California needs to undergo corresponding testing to ensure that the products comply with the requirements of the proposal.

The California 65 test of stainless steel mainly tests for total lead, total cadmium, phthalic acid, bisphenol A and other chemical substances in the product. Specifically, the limit requirement for lead content is 100 ppm (parts per million), while the limit requirement for cadmium content is 300 ppm. These tests are designed to protect the health of consumers by ensuring that the levels of these harmful substances in products do not exceed safe limits.

Stainless steel California 65 testing process:

1. Confirm the product type: The laboratory will determine the regulations and test items to be used based on the product type. For stainless steel products, hazardous substances of major concern may include lead, cadmium, etc.

2. Confirm product testing material points: determine testing costs and sample quantity.

3. Prepare the sample: Send it to the laboratory for testing when it is ready. For stainless steel products, multiple sets of samples may be required for comprehensive testing.

4. Testing: The laboratory tests the samples to check whether the content of harmful substances in the stainless steel meets the requirements of California 65 regulations.

5. Draft report confirmation: After the test is completed, the laboratory will issue a draft report for customer confirmation. Customers need to check whether the test data and conclusions in the report are accurate.

6. Issue a formal report: After the customer confirms that the information is correct, the laboratory will issue a formal California 65 test report.
