What specific test items are included in the EU EN71 standard for game controlle

Date:2024-09-06 10:53:01 Classification :【question】 Visits:
If the game controller wants to comply with the EU EN71 standard, it needs to undergo a series of test projects, which are mainly aimed at the safety of toys. The EN71 standard includes multiple parts. The main test items include:

1. Physical and mechanical performance testing (EN71-1): including drop test, small parts test, sharp edge test, tensile test, pressure test, etc., to ensure that the toy has no sharp edges, clamping points or moving parts that may cause injury.

2. Flammability test (EN71-2): Pays attention to the flammability of toys, including the burning performance of toys when exposed to open flames. It is required that toys must not burn excessively and must not produce toxic gases when burning.

3. Chemical performance test (EN71-3): It stipulates the chemical requirements for materials and colors used in toys, and limits the content of harmful substances in toys, such as heavy metals, organic solvents, preservatives, etc.

4. Testing of chemical experimental toys (EN71-4): safety technical requirements for specific chemical experimental toys.

5. Testing of chemical toys (EN71-5): Safety technical requirements for other chemical toys except chemical experimental toys.

6. Age warning graphic mark (EN71-6): determines the label symbol for toys - age warning, including the icon and its meaning.

7. Requirements for finger paints (EN71-7): Specifies the safety technical requirements and test methods for specific finger paints.

8. Household swings, slides and similar toys (EN71-8): Specifies the safety technical requirements and test methods for swings, slides and similar toys for specific household indoor or outdoor use.

9. General requirements for organic compounds (EN71-9): Requirements are put forward for certain organic chemical compounds that migrate out of or contain in toys and toy materials.

10. Sample preparation and extraction of organic compounds (EN71-10).

11. Analytical methods for organic compounds (EN71-11).

If the gamepad is classified as a toy, then the above tests may be required to ensure compliance with EN71 standards. If the gamepad is an electronic device, it may need to comply with other EU directives and standards, such as CE certification. Specific test items and requirements may vary based on the specific characteristics and intended use of the gamepad. Manufacturers should determine what testing and certification is required based on the specifics of the product and the EU’s classification guidelines.
