EU REACH testing application process for coatings

Date:2024-09-20 09:54:59 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Coatings need to undergo REACH testing when exported to the EU to ensure that they comply with the EU's regulatory requirements for chemical registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction. The REACH regulations aim to protect human health and environmental safety, especially by strictly regulating the use of chemicals. Certain chemicals in paint may pose risks to the environment and human health and require appropriate testing and evaluation.

The application process for coating REACH testing usually includes the following steps:

1. Fill in the application form: The application form should include company name, address, sample name, report language, method of obtaining the report and other information. If an English report is required, relevant English information must also be provided.

2. Sample preparation: Prepare samples according to the testing requirements. Solid samples usually require 5 grams and liquid samples require 5 ml. Make sure that the sample packaging is sealed and without damage or leakage.

3. Sign the contract and pay: Confirm the quotation information with the testing agency, sign the contract and pay the corresponding testing fees.

4. Send samples: Send the prepared samples to the testing agency.

5. Testing: The testing agency conducts relevant tests on the samples according to REACH regulations, which may include screening for specific harmful substances, such as heavy metals, phthalates, organotin compounds, etc.

6. Report issuance: After the test is completed, the testing agency will issue a detailed test report. Reports are typically sent electronically first, followed by paper reports based on the client's choice.

7. Follow-up actions: If the test results show that the product meets the requirements of REACH regulations, the manufacturer can continue to export and sell. If not, the product will need to be adjusted to comply with regulatory requirements.

It should be noted that REACH regulations are constantly being updated, and new restricted substances may be added or existing restrictions may be changed, so manufacturers need to continue to pay attention to changes in regulations and ensure that their products always comply with the latest regulatory requirements. In addition, the cost of REACH testing will vary according to the scope and complexity of the test. Enterprises should communicate with the testing agency in detail when applying to understand the specific costs.
