The items that coating products need to detect in the EU POPs test mainly include the following categories of substances:
1. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs): including tetrabromodiphenyl ether, pentabromodiphenyl ether, hexabromodiphenyl ether, heptabromodiphenyl ether, decabromodiphenyl ether, etc. The individual content of the five substances in the substance must be ≤10ppm , the sum of the five items in mixtures and articles must be ≤500ppm.
2. Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its derivatives (PFOS): the content of substances and mixtures must be ≤10ppm, and the content of articles must be ≤1000ppm; the content of textiles or coated materials must be ≤1ug/m2.
3. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts and related substances: The content of PFOA and its salts present in substances, mixtures or articles must be ≤0.025mg/kg; the content of PFOA-related substances must be ≤1 mg/kg.
4. Short-chain chlorinated paraffin (SCCP): The substance/mixture content must be <1%, and the article content must be <0.15%.
5. Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD): The content of substances, mixtures, articles and the flame retardant part of articles must be ≤100 mg/kg (0.01% by weight).
6. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs), and hexachlorobutadiene: These substances are banned.
7. Pentachlorobenzene and hexachlorobenzene: The content of pentachlorophenol and its salts and esters in substances, mixtures and articles must be ≤5mg/kg, and others are prohibited.
8. Other POPs substances: including chlordane, endosulfan, hexachlorocyclohexane (including lindane), heptachlor, DDT, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, toxaphene, mirex, Chlordone, pentachlorophenol and its salts and esters, dicofol, etc. These substances are usually banned.
