RoHS is a directive on restricting the use of certain harmful ingredients in electronic and electrical equipment. It is a mandatory standard formulated by EU legislation, mainly used to regulate the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so that it is more conducive to human health and environmental protection.
This standard aims to eliminate ten substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, dihexyl (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), tolyl butyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) in electrical and electronic products.
RoHS certification validity period
The RoHS regulations do not specify the validity period of the report, but generally merchants default that the period is one year. RoHS is aimed at the chemical testing of toxic and harmful substances of raw materials, and there is a problem with the batch of raw materials of products. That is to say, the testing batch meets the RoHS testing limit requirements. If different batches or suppliers change, the consistency of materials cannot be guaranteed.
The RoHS report needs to be updated in the following three cases:
1. EU issues new RoHS directive;
2. Product changes, such as production process changes, production process changes, material changes, or supplier changes;
3. The purchaser will require that the product related reports must be valid for one year, or even that the inspection is only valid for each batch of goods, in order to continuously monitor the stability of the supplier's products, which is completely dependent on the requirements of the buyer.
Differences between China RoHS and EU RoHS
Six RoHS tests in China are still voluntary. There are ten RoHS tests in the European Union, and four more tests for ortho benzene are mandatory. RoHS 2.0 for export to EU and RoHS for domestic.
