What is the pop detection report? Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) refer to chemicals synthesized by humans that can persist in the environment, accumulate through the biological food chain (web), and have harmful effects on human health.
It has four characteristics: high toxicity, persistence, bioaccumulation, and long-distance migration, and for humans located at the top of the biological chain, these toxicity are more than 70000 times greater than initially.
Considering the high toxicity, persistence, accumulation, and high mobility of POPs, in order to promote their elimination and reduction, multiple countries jointly signed the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in 2001.
EU POPs Restricted Substance Requirements
Tetrabromodiphenyl ether, pentabromodiphenyl ether, hexabromodiphenyl ether, heptabromodiphenyl ether, and decabromodiphenyl ether require that each of the five substances in the substance be ≤ 10ppm; The sum of 5 items in the mixture and item ≤ 500ppm; Tetrabromine, pentabromine, hexabromine, heptame, and decabromodiphenyl ether in RoHS products are exempt from POPs regulations.
Requirements for perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its derivatives (PFOS): Substances and mixtures ≤ 10ppm, items ≤ 1000ppm, textiles or coated materials ≤ 1ug/m2.
Requirements for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts and related substances: PFOA and its salts present in substances, mixtures or articles ≤ 0.025mg/kg, and PFOA related substances present in substances, mixtures or articles ≤ 1 mg/kg.
Short chain chlorinated paraffin (SCCP) requirements: substance/mixture<1%, item<0.15%.
Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) requirement: The flame retardant part of the substance, mixture, article, and article shall be ≤ 100mg/kg (0.01% by weight).
Pentachlorobenzene, hexachlorobenzene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated naphthalene (PCNs), hexabromobiphenyl, and hexachlorobutadiene are prohibited.
Chlordane, endosulfan, hexachlorocyclohexane (including lindane), heptachlor, DDT, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, toxaphene, mirex, chlordecone, pentachlorophenol and its salts and esters, triclosan requirements: pentachlorophenol and its salts and esters ≤ 5mg/kg in substances, mixtures, and articles, other prohibited.
POPs testing project
All types of products sold to the European Union must be tested after being split into homogeneous materials (including accessible and non-contact materials). Materials such as metal, ceramics, glass, etc. in the items do not need to be tested; If it is non-metallic materials such as plastic, rubber, sponge, textiles, coatings, etc., it is recommended to test for substances in POPs after understanding the purpose of the materials.
Plastic and rubber testing items
Bromodiphenyl ether, pentaphenylether, hexaphenylether, heptadiphenylether, SCCP, HBCDD, PCB, PCN.
Testing items for electroplating solution, electroplating labels, coatings, and printing textile materials
PFOS,PFOA,PCP。
Testing projects for light oil and rubber products
PCB, PCN。
Electronic components and chip IC testing projects
Bromodiphenyl ether, pentaphenylether, hexaphenylether, heptadiphenylether, SCCP, HBCDD, PCB, PCN.
Process for handling POPs
1. Sending samples; 2. Testing; 3. Produce a draft report after passing the test; 4. The draft is verified to be correct; 5. Issuance of certificates and reports;
