Why do we need to apply for German food grade LFGB certification?
1、 What does LFGB certification mean
In September 2005, the German New Food and Dietary Products Act LFGB replaced the Food and Daily Necessities LMBG. It is also known as the "Law on the Management of Food, Products, Cosmetics, and Other Daily Necessities", which is an important basic legal document in the field of food hygiene management in Germany. It is a guideline for other specialized food hygiene laws and regulations. Daily necessities that come into contact with food can be tested and certified as "products without chemical toxic substances" by an authorized agency's LFGB test report, and can be sold in the German market
2、 What products does LFBG include?
It includes products produced by new processes, such as: chromium coating of Barbecue grill, temperature resistance test of Teflon coating of cooking Frying pan, silicone sealing ring test in kettle, etc.
The commonly involved fields include ceramics, synthetic plastics, polyvinyl chloride, plasticizers, paper products, leather, textiles, cosmetics, tobacco, and so on
The products involved include: toasters, sandwich ovens, electric kettles, and other electrical products that come into contact with food;
Food storage supplies; Tempered glass kitchen board, stainless steel pot and other kitchen utensils; Bowls, knives and forks, spoons, cups and plates; Clothing, bedding, towels, wigs, False eyelashes, hats, diapers and other sanitary products, sleeping bags, shoes, gloves, watchbands, handbags, wallets/wallets, Briefcase, chair covering materials;
Textile or leather toys and toys containing textile or leather clothing; Directly used yarns and fabrics; Various cosmetics and tobacco products, etc.
3、 Significant changes in new regulations
In German law, EU Directive No.178-2002 (Food Safety Requirements, Responsibilities of Food and Dietary Operators) is implemented
Temporary regulations on tobacco will be introduced beyond the new LFGB scope
Expanding the scope of prohibition on misleading statements about materials and goods in contact with food
There are no significant changes in the safety testing of materials and products in contact with food
4、 The process and cycle of LFGB certification
1. The applicant fills in the application materials provided by a third-party testing company
2. The applicant needs to send samples to a third-party testing company (start testing after receiving the samples)
3. Testing LFGB compliant regulatory standards based on different samples
4. The third-party testing agency issues a qualified report that complies with LFGB testing
5. Cycle 5-7 working days
