According to the requirements of the Measures for the Administration of the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (Joint Ministerial Order No. 32 of 2016), producers and importers of electrical and electronic products should mark the name of the hazardous substances contained in the products they put on the market, the information contained, the components and other information. In order to support the implementation of relevant policies and regulations on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products in China, and to standardize the marking methods for the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revised and issued the Requirements for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (SJ/T 11364-2014) in 2014.

As the control of hazardous substances in China's electrical and electronic products continues to advance in depth, the types of control of hazardous substances continue to be updated. At the same time, combined with the problems and experience summarized by the industry in the implementation of SJ/T 11364-2014 for many years, the need for revising the technical content of the original standard is put forward. In 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the revision of SJ/T 11364, project number: 2019-0969T-SJ. The project was organized and completed by the Working Group on Pollution Prevention and Control Standards for Electrical and Electronic Products of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. After many discussions by the standards working group, a draft for comments is now formed and widely solicited for comments and suggestions for the industry.
