On Wednesday, the Maine Senate proposed a ban on tobacco products and submitted the bill to the House of Representatives for a vote.
The bill passed from 18 to 16. If passed by the House of Representatives, it will ban the sale of products like mint, vanilla, fruit and Menthol.
The ban does not include Menthol flammable cigarettes.
However, the bill will not punish the use, purchase, or possession of flavored products, only the sales of tobacco retailers.
This ban is aimed at prohibiting already implemented bans across the state. Portland, South Portland, Brunswick, Bangor, and Barr Harbor also voted in favor of similar bans.
Last year, a similar effort across the state also failed because lawmakers adjourned without dealing with the bill.
