Washington, D.C. - The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned consumers to immediately stop using the Iraza 512 magnet 5mm magnetic ball set DIY creative magnetic beads, as loose and dangerous magnets pose a risk of serious injury or death if ingested.

CPSC testing shows that the DIY creative magnetic beads in the 5-millimeter magnetic ball set of magnets violate mandatory federal safety standards for magnets. When high-energy magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets will attract each other or another metal object and remain in the digestive system. This may lead to intestinal perforation, distortion and/or blockage, infection, blood poisoning, and death.

The seller, China Guanjia Trading Co., Ltd., has not responded to the violation notification letter from the Consumer Product Safety Commission requesting the recall of the product, nor has it provided remedies to consumers.

Iraza 512 magnet 5mm magnetic ball set DIY creative magnetic beads are small, spherical, loose, and separable rare earth magnets with strong magnetic flux. They are sold in the form of loose magnets, packed in a set of 512 multicolored magnetic balls, and assembled into a cubic form. The 5mm kit is sold in transparent plastic boxes and portable tin storage boxes. The set includes a black storage bag. The magnetic ball set is sold on the Wal Mart website for about 30 dollars.

The mandatory federal safety standards for magnets stipulate that selling non compliant magnet products produced after October 21, 2022 is illegal. CPSC sends a letter to magnet retailers and sellers. Guanjia Trading Co., Ltd. sold approximately 700 sets from October 2022 to April 2023. The Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States urges consumers to immediately stop using and dispose of magnetic ball sets.
