Many battery companies are often required to provide MSDS or SDS reports when exporting their products, but many companies do not know what the two are and what the difference is.
definition
SDS: (Safety Data Sheet) is a safety data sheet, which is a document developed based on internationally unified standards and is used to provide safety information about chemicals.
MSDS: (Material Safety Data Sheet) is a material safety data sheet, mainly used to provide safety information about specific materials. Although the two forms are slightly different in naming, their purpose and content are basically the same.
scenes to be used
SDS and MSDS have basically the same uses, mainly including:
1. Customs commodity inspection: Check whether the ingredients contain prohibited items
2. Freight forwarding customs declaration: confirm the delivery requirements of the product
3. Customer requirements: market access requirements in different countries and regions
4. Enterprise security management: Understand product risk characteristics
5. Hazard registration: Hazardous chemicals registration follows the principles of enterprise declaration, provincial registration agency review, national registration agency approval and unified issuance of certificates, and local supervision and management by the production safety supervision department.

What is the difference between MSDS and SDS of battery products?
Notice:
SDS is available in Chinese and English versions. The Chinese version is based on regulations: "Contents and Item Sequence of Safety Data Sheets for Chemicals" (GB/T 16483-2008) and "Guidelines for Preparing Chemical Safety Data Sheets" (GB/T 17519-2013); the English version is based on regulations: Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS Rev. 9).
For battery products, the MSDS is based on EEC Directive 93/112/EC and UN “Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS Model Regulations”.
Because the Chinese and English versions of SDS are based on different standards/regulations, the Chinese and English versions of SDS are separate, while the MSDS is based on the same regulations, so the Chinese and English versions of MSDS do not need to be separated. Generally speaking, SDS and MSDS refer to the same kind of document. After the implementation of the new GHS standard, the old version of MSDS has gradually been replaced by SDS.
