Pearlescent powder EU REACH testing process

Date:2024-10-28 10:08:21 Classification :【question】 Visits:
As a special effect pigment, pearlescent powder must comply with the requirements of the EU REACH regulations if it needs to enter the EU market. The full name of the REACH regulation is "Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals" (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), which aims to protect human health and environmental safety. The following is an overview of the EU REACH testing and handling process for pearlescent powder:

1. Determine the scope of registration: According to REACH regulations, any chemical substances, preparations or articles that are intentionally released in the EU market and whose annual production or import volume exceeds 1 ton need to be registered.

2. Registration subject: Manufacturers, importers in the EU and manufacturers outside the EU must fulfill their registration obligations through the only representative (OR) in the EU.

3. Prepare registration documents: Detailed registration documents including technical documents, risk assessment reports, safety data sheets (SDS), etc. need to be prepared.

4. Submit registration application: Submit registration application through the EU's REACH-IT system, and carefully check the document content to ensure there are no omissions or errors.

5. Payment of fees: Pay corresponding registration fees according to ECHA's requirements. The amount of the fee depends on the number of registered substances and the registration level.

6. Complete registration: After the registration application is accepted and the fee is paid, a registration number will be obtained, indicating that the product has been successfully registered.

7. Evaluation and Authorization: For certain chemicals with potential risks, further evaluation and authorization processes may be required.

8. Restrictions: If the manufacture, placing on the market or use of a certain substance or its mixture or article results in risks to human health and the environment that cannot be adequately controlled, its production or import within the EU will be restricted.

9. Testing process: The applicant fills out the application form and provides a list of product components. The testing agency determines the testing fee based on the materials provided. The applicant signs a service agreement and pays the fee after confirming the quotation, prepares the test sample and conducts the test. After the test is completed, REACH is obtained Test report.

It should be noted that REACH certification is a complex process involving chemical testing and evaluation. When companies conduct REACH certification, they need to ensure that the chemical substances in their products meet the requirements and prepare relevant documents and reports. In addition, if the product contains substances of very high concern (SVHC) and the content exceeds 0.1%, it needs to be notified to ECHA. By conducting REACH certification, companies can improve the competitiveness of their products, expand market opportunities, and meet the requirements of sustainable development.
