When children's inflatable toys are sold on the Amazon platform, CPC testing is required to ensure that the products meet relevant safety and quality standards. The following is an introduction to Amazon CPC testing for inflatable toys:
1. Preparation before testing
- Clarify product attributes: Confirm whether inflatable toys fall within the scope of CPC certification. CPC certification focuses on product safety and compliance, and ensures that products meet the requirements of the Amazon platform and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
- Understand relevant regulations and standards: Learn more about CPC certification regulations and standards, such as CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act), US toy standard ASTM F963, etc.
2. Testing Items
CPSC has published a total of 38 standards. The main testing contents of inflatable toys are as follows:
1. CPSIA total lead and phthalates
2. American toy standard ASTM F963
3. Electric toy safety standard 16 CFR Part 1505
4. Vinyl plastic film flammability standard 16 CFR Part 1611
3. Test type
- Initial test: Comprehensive test of the product.
- Material change test: If the material of the product changes, it needs to be retested.
- Periodic test: As a supplement to the material change test, if the production is continuous and there is no material change, periodic test shall be conducted at least once a year.
- Component test: Generally, the finished product is tested. In some specific cases, all components can also be tested to ensure the compliance of the final product.
4. Testing process
1. Prepare samples: Randomly select 3-5 samples from the inventory for testing. The samples must meet the test requirements and be intact.
2. Select a testing agency: Find a CPSC-approved third-party testing agency to conduct the necessary tests.
3. Conduct testing: The testing agency conducts various tests on the samples in accordance with relevant standards.
4. Issue a test report: The testing agency issues a detailed test report based on the test results.
5. Issue CPC certificate: The manufacturer or importer issues the CPC certificate based on the test report of the third-party testing agency. CPC certification does not have an actual certificate, but a document issued by the applicant after the testing agency provides a template and fills in the information. The certificate must contain information such as product information, applicant information, US importer information, production date and manufacturer address, test standards, laboratory information, and test date and address.
6. Submit for review: Submit the CPC certificate and related documents to the Amazon platform for review.
7. Review passed: If the Amazon platform passes the review, the manufacturer or importer will be authorized to affix the CPC certification label on the product packaging and sell it on the Amazon platform.
5. Reasons for audit failure
CPC certification submission audit failure is usually due to incomplete or mismatched information, including SKU information mismatch, certification standards and products mismatch, lack of US importer information, laboratory information mismatch or non-recognition, CPSIA warning field not filled in the product editing page (if the product contains parts), and the product lacks safety information or compliance mark (traceability code).
