As a kind of electronic and electrical equipment, electric fans need to undergo RoHS testing before being exported to the EU market to ensure that they comply with EU environmental regulations and avoid damage to human health and the environment. The testing process is as follows:
1. Document preparation and application
- Fill in the application form: The applicant needs to fill in the RoHS certification application form and provide basic information about the fan, such as product name, model, manufacturer, etc.
- Provide a product component list: List the component list of the fan in detail, including the materials and parts used.
- Understand the requirements of the RoHS directive: Be familiar with the restrictions on hazardous substances in the RoHS directive to ensure that the fan meets the relevant standards.
2. Determine the test fee and sign the contract
- Engineer evaluation: The engineer determines the cost of the test based on the characteristics of the fan and the component list.
- Sign the contract: After the applicant confirms the quotation, sign the RoHS certification application form and service agreement with the certification body and pay the full project fee.
3. Prepare test samples
Determine the number of fan samples to be provided according to the requirements of the certification body.
4. Sample testing
- Sample pretreatment: The laboratory pre-treats the fan samples, which may include cleaning, decomposition and other steps.
- Hazardous substance detection: Use appropriate testing equipment and methods to determine the content of harmful substances in the sample, including lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), etc.
5. Data analysis and report issuance
Compare the test results with the requirements of the RoHS directive to determine whether the fan meets the restrictions, and then issue a test report.
6. Submit for review and obtain certificate
Submit the RoHS declaration of compliance and test report to the buyer or certification body in the EU for review, and obtain the relevant certificate after the review is passed.
