CPSIA labeling requirements and prohibited products

CPSIA labeling requires that, one year after the entry into force of the regulation (August 14, 2009), manufacturers of children's products must affix permanent, clear and eye-catching marks on their products and related packaging, so that consumers can identify and determine the manufacturer's name, production date and place of origin, as well as other relevant production information, so as to ensure product traceability.

Unless the product complies with the applicable safety requirements or standards of the regulations or standards, it is strictly prohibited that the advertising of consumer products or the labels and packages of the said products contain the reference information in terms of consumer product safety regulations or voluntary consumer product safety standards.

CPSIA prohibited products

On October 27, 2017, the Commission issued the final Phthalate Regulation (16 CFR part 1307), which took effect on April 25, 2018. It is illegal for anyone to provide the following products, and to produce and sell any of the following eight phthalates with a concentration higher than 0.1%:

Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP),

Dibutyl phthalate (DBP),

Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP),

Diiso-nonyl phthalate (DINP),

Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP),

Di-n-amyl phthalate (DPENP),

Dihexyl phthalate (DHEXP),
