EFPIA and ECHA have released more data to help develop alternative methods for animal testing, and additional information on the hazardous characteristics of 75 substances from 370 tests has recently been released as the IUCLID dataset. This is more than twice the amount of data initially provided to the scientific community to develop alternative testing methods when the joint plan was launched a year ago.
Helsinki, May 17, 2023- A pilot project led by the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry Associations (EFPIA) and supported by ECHA has provided a set of unpublished archived data on chemical testing on the IUCLID website.
The database now contains information on the hazardous characteristics of 94 substances from a total of 517 tests. This is the result of the first data delivery of the project a year ago.
For example, these data can help develop predictive computing testing models, reading, and other alternative testing methods to reduce reliance on animal testing. The following table provides an overview of the number and types of studies by endpoint group.
