The increasing pressure on British lawmakers to completely ban disposable e-cigarettes is becoming increasingly popular among young people, as well as concerns about the ability of regulatory agencies to control rapidly developing industries,
The government's call for evidence on e-cigarettes and young people will end on June 6th, and measures are expected to be taken to crack down on illegal e-cigarette sales, as well as the marketing and placement of relatively cheap disposable e-cigarettes.
A government official stated that the latter is particularly worrying. They said, "Some marketing and brand promotion are terrible - it looks like a candy store
Some health organizations have broader concerns about the government's approach, as proposed by Junior Health Minister Neil O'Brien in a speech last month, encouraging the use of vape as a substitute for traditional tobacco products and planning to "exchange and stop" the plan to provide free vaping entry kits to 1 million smokers in England.
They believe that the history of e-cigarettes is relatively short, which means that people have little knowledge of long-term health effects, and there is also limited evidence of the effectiveness of e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation method. For example, countries such as Australia only allow the use of e-cigarettes, according to the Guardian, local reports, and prescriptions.
The most direct battle is likely to revolve around disposable e-cigarettes, with over half of young e-cigarettes choosing to use them.
