Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned consumers to stop using SQM bicycle helmets immediately, because they could not protect the rider in case of collision, and there was a risk of head injury. This helmet does not meet the position stability and certification requirements of mandatory federal safety standards for bicycle helmets.
Chinese seller SQM has not yet agreed to recall these helmets or provide remedies to consumers.
Bicycle helmets are sold online on Amazon from March 2022 to January 2023 for a price range of $17 to $26. Helmets are sold in one size. The helmet is black with green accents, featuring black and gray striped patterns, black and gray straps, and a red buckle. The label reads "SQM2326. Long (56-61 centimeters), approximately. The helmet has the words" 225 grams, made in China "inside.
