Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned consumers to stop using Xinerter green adult bicycle helmets immediately, because they cannot protect the rider in case of collision and there is a risk of head injury. This helmet does not meet the position stability and certification requirements of mandatory federal safety standards for bicycle helmets.
Chinese seller US Xiner has refused to recall these helmets or provide remedies to consumers.
Bicycle helmets are only sold online on Amazon website from January 2020 to February 2023, priced at $17 to $35. The helmet has a white bottom shell, a blue cover shell, a black strap, and a black buckle. The words "Xinerter" are printed on the left and right sides of the back of the helmet. There is no specific model or brand label inside the helmet.
CPSC tested the Hint bicycle helmet that met this safety warning and determined that it did not meet federal safety standards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged consumers to immediately stop using, cut the belts and discard these helmets.
