Children's educational toys EU en71 testing process

Date:2024-10-28 10:11:31 Classification :【question】 Visits:
Children's educational toys need to undergo EN71 testing before entering the EU market to ensure their safety and compliance. EN71 is the regulatory standard for toy products in the EU market, covering many aspects such as the physical and mechanical properties, flammability properties, and chemical properties of toys. The following is the main process for EU EN71 testing of children's educational toys:

1. Determine the testing items: According to the type and characteristics of the toy, determine the EN71 series standard testing items that need to be carried out. Educational toys usually require attention to the following parts:

- EN71-1: Physical and mechanical performance testing, including drop test, small parts test, sharp edge test, tensile test, pressure test, etc.

- EN71-2: Flammability test, tests the flammability of toy materials, and stipulates the types of flammable materials that are prohibited from being used in toys and their combustion performance requirements.

- EN71-3: Migration test of specific elements, mainly focusing on the limit requirements for migrating elements in accessible parts or materials in toys, especially the restrictions on heavy metals and chemical substances.

2. Prepare samples and information: According to the requirements of the testing agency, prepare representative toy samples and related technical information, such as design drawings, descriptions, lists of applicable standards, etc.

3. Fill in the application form: Submit the testing application to the testing agency and fill in the relevant application form.

4. Sample testing: The testing agency will test the toy samples according to the EN71 series standards and issue a test report.

5. Issuing a report: If the test passes, the testing agency will issue a test report or certificate that complies with the EN71 standard.

6. Cycle: The toy EN71 testing process usually requires a certain cycle, generally 5-7 working days, which is subject to the actual situation of product testing.

7. Continuous compliance: Manufacturers need to continue to ensure that products comply with the requirements of the EN71 standard and update or retest when necessary.

8. CE mark: After passing the test, the manufacturer also needs to correctly mark the CE mark on the product for inspection by relevant EU agencies.

As a subset of children's toys, educational toys also need to meet all the requirements of the EN71 standard. Manufacturers are responsible for ensuring that their products comply with these standards and provide appropriate test reports as proof of compliance.
