Artificial plastic plants EU REACH testing and processing

Date:2025-04-07 11:05:12 Classification :【question】 Visits:756
1. Scope of application of REACH testing

Artificial plastic plants must comply with REACH regulations if they are exported to the EU market as consumer products. This regulation restricts chemical substances (especially SVHC) that may be present in products. The current SVHC list has been updated to 247 items, covering harmful ingredients such as plasticizers, flame retardants, and heavy metals.

2. Testing process

1. Application and document preparation

- Fill in the application form, provide the product material list (BOM), sample information and usage instructions.

- Split the sample into homogeneous materials (such as plastic body, dye, adhesive, etc.), and the SVHC content of each material needs to be tested separately.

2. Cost assessment and contract signing

- The testing agency quotes based on the type, color and complexity of the material, usually charging according to the number of materials (single material testing ranges from about hundreds to thousands of yuan).

- After confirming the quotation, sign a service agreement and pay the fee.

3. Sample delivery and testing

- Send samples to the laboratory (plastics generally need to provide 20-50g samples, subject to the agency's requirements).

- The laboratory uses chemical analysis (such as GC-MS, HPLC, etc.) to detect SVHC substances, focusing on plasticizers (such as DEHP), flame retardants, etc.

4. Report issuance and compliance judgment

- The test cycle is usually 5-7 working days, and a Chinese and English test report will be issued after passing.

- If the test exceeds the standard, it is necessary to adjust the material formula or find alternative substances for re-testing.

III. Test items and limits

- SVHC substances: 247 substances in the current list need to be tested (as of 2025). If the SVHC content in the product exceeds 0.1% (weight ratio), it must be notified to ECHA; if it exceeds 1 ton/year, it must be registered.

- Common controlled substances: phthalates (such as DEHP, DBP), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP), etc.

IV. Notes

1. Material compliance verification

- Plastic products need to focus on SVHC substances in plasticizers, dyes and adhesives, and give priority to environmentally friendly alternative materials.

- If it contains metal accessories (such as support frames), additional heavy metal testing (such as lead and cadmium) is required.

2. Institution selection

- Choose a laboratory with CMA/CNAS qualifications (such as Dezewei Testing, etc.) to ensure that the report is internationally recognized.

3. Regulatory update tracking

- The SVHC list is updated twice a year. Enterprises need to regularly pay attention to the ECHA official website or entrust testing institutions to provide dynamic services.
