What steps and processes are required for controller EU RoHS testing?

Date:2024-08-15 10:44:47 Classification :【question】 Visits:
As a part of electronic and electrical equipment, controllers need to comply with specific environmental protection requirements according to the EU's environmental protection directives. The EU's RoHS directive restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic and electrical products to reduce the impact on the environment and human health. According to the search results, if the controller exists as an independent controller, it is included in the scope of application of the RoHS Directive.

If controller products need to undergo RoHS testing, they usually need to go through the following steps and processes:

1. Understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive: First, you need to understand the hazardous substances restricted by the RoHS Directive, including lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated biphenyls. ethers (PBDEs) and newly added phthalates and other ten substances.

2. Choose a testing method: RoHS testing is usually divided into two categories, namely screening testing and confirmation testing. Screening detection methods, such as X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), are suitable for preliminary screening; confirmation detection methods accurately determine the content of harmful substances through chemical analysis, such as EPA3052:1996, IEC62321 and other methods.

3. Sample preparation: Divide the product into homogeneous materials of a single material for testing. Prepare sufficient sample volume, about 20-40 grams for solid samples and 20-40 mg for liquid samples.

4. Choose a testing agency: Choose a qualified third-party testing agency, such as Shenzhen NTEK Testing Technology Co., Ltd. (NTEK), to ensure the accuracy and authoritativeness of the test results.

5. Submit application and samples: Submit RoHS testing application to the testing agency and mail the sample to the testing agency.

6. Testing execution: The testing agency will test and analyze the samples according to the requirements of the RoHS directive and the corresponding testing methods.

7. Result evaluation: After the test is completed, the agency will provide a test report listing whether the content of hazardous substances meets the limit requirements of the RoHS directive.

8. Obtain a certificate: If the product meets RoHS requirements, it will obtain a RoHS conformity report and certificate; if it does not, you need to find alternative materials or make product modifications.

9. Continuous monitoring and improvement: Even if the product passes RoHS testing, the material supply chain and production process should be continuously monitored to ensure continued compliance with the RoHS directive, and corresponding product improvements should be made according to regulatory updates.

The above steps ensure that the controller product complies with the requirements of the EU RoHS directive and avoids market barriers and potential environmental risks.
