Amazon US requires a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for all children’s toys and products, including wooden toys. The CPC certificate must be based on the test results of a third-party testing laboratory recognized by CPSC and issued by the seller. The third-party laboratory can assist in drafting the CPC certificate. The CPC certificate must contain the following information:
1. Product information (name and description);
2. All laws and regulations applicable to the product;
3. Manufacturer information: including name, address and phone number;
4. Product production date and address. The production date must be in year and month, and the address must be in city;
5. Testing time and address;
6. Third-party testing agency information (CPSC-accredited laboratory): name, address, contact number.
As children's products, wooden toys usually need to undergo the following tests:
1. Total lead and phthalate content testing specified by CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act);
2. ASTM F963-17, the American standardized test for toy safety;
3. If it is an electric toy, it must also be tested according to the electric toy safety standards of 16 CFR Part 1505;
4. If it is a rattle toy, it must meet the rattle toy requirements of 16 CFR Part 1510.
Therefore, when wooden toys are sold on Amazon’s US site, they do need to undergo CPC testing to prove that they comply with the safety regulations stipulated by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
